Why is K-Pop so popular nowadays, especially in countries like Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia, and i’ve came up with a thesis and that it’s because the music scene in those countries aren’t comparable to the music industry in Korea. We can just see this by looking at the amount of music shows, there’s four shows a week in Korea, Mnet Countdown, Music Bank, Music Core and Inkigayo, and often these idols attend variety shows such as Star Golden Bell, Star King, Strong Heart etc.

But what’s the most important factor of being popular? Of course it’s the fans, idol groups have huge fanbases around the world, these fans love their idols, including me! We’d do anything to see our idols, I personally flew from Hong Kong to Shanghai just to see Girls’ Generation’s concert even though my mom was pretty mad at me! Fans would do anything to protect and support the idols. Great success comes with… a lot of anti-fans, or what people usually call them Antis, they’re people that just hate on certain idols for usually a non-valid reason, a lot of fans just got used to it and ignore them nowadays.

Also, K-Pop idols have a long period of training before they debut, it’s getting more tough to get in the industry, children beginning to train dancing, singing and acting, one day Korean Idols are going to dominate the world, we already have an good example: Rain, being on the “100 Most Influential People” list was pretty amazing.

I hope you enjoyed this article, stay tuned to our Super Junior CD Giveaway on Monday, and if you haven’t participated the Xiah Junsu Solo CD Contest, then you better hurry up! It’s ending in 2 days.

My thesis about kpop is really because that there aren’t really other country that promotes their artists so much! Look how much they’re debuting artists, look at the amount of music shows. S. Korea is incomparable to other countries. 🙂

I think you’re wrong. The music scene in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia cannot compare. Thai music scene is different. It’s better than HK and Taiwan. So how do you explain that?

Thailand is the only country that Korean artists like to visit and perform and even have joint project with. Thailand has got a vibrant and developed music and entertainment industry.
